SUSPENSION SERVICES
There are three basic services that we offer for suspension
components: a Basic Service, a Rebuild, and a Revalve.
|
|
 |
A Basic Service consists mainly
of changing fluids and inspecting all parts (bushings,
seals, wipers, o-rings, washers, etc.) for wear and
damage. Forks and shocks are completely disassembled
using the proper techniques and tools, cleaned, and
are reassembled with fresh oil and nitrogen (for shocks).
Under average use conditions, we recommend suspension
service at regular intervals (at least once a season).
A Rebuild is essentially the
same as a service, except that all major wear parts
are replaced (seals, scrapers, seal heads, bushings,
etc.).
|
|
| A Revalve
is our most specialized service, and includes everything
done during a routine service, plus the reworking of the
internal valving system within the fork or shock. On damper
rod forks (older style conventional forks), the existing
holes in the damper tubes are brazed up and different
holes (diameters and locations) are drilled. Depending
on the rider and application, cartridge emulators may
be added. |
 |
 |
On shocks and cartridge
forks (USD and conventional), washer stacks are removed
from the valve assembly and are modified using a computer
modeling program. In conjunction with Phils experience
and knowledge, valve assemblies are restacked in order
to achieve characteristics to better suit your needs and
make your bike work better for you. In conjunction with
all revalve work, springs may need to be replaced or modified,
depending on the bike, rider and application. |
| Custom
Suspension Lowering is another service we offer, sometimes
in conjunction with revalving. Road bikes can usually
be lowered about one inch without having adverse effects
on the handling, and dirt bikes can be lowered about two
inches. (But before suspension lowering, we suggest cutting
down the seat foam if possible.) |
| Shock Dyno
Service We have just purchased a Roehrig 10VS
shock dyno. We can now fine tune and match performance
characteristics on the front forks and rear shock
on every bike. Each bike, even with identical components
and valving may map differently for a variety of
reasons. Dyno testing provides specific information
via mapping and graphs that allow us to further
modify valve stacks with more insight, therefore
enabling a more custom setup for each bike / rider. |
|
 |
| Field
and Race Support is offered for road and dirt bikes.
We spend much time at road race tracks (track days, AFM,
CCS, & regional AMA) and popular dirt riding areas
(Hollister, Metcalf, Carnegie, Clear Creek, and abroad
).
We can help make your track tuning time more valuable
by providing on-site feedback. |
 |
Swingarm
and Link Service should be performed on dirt bikes
at least once a season if the bike is used regularly.
This service consists of removing the shock, the link
assembly, and the swingarm if necessary, and lubricating
the needle bearings with grease and cleaning the seals
and inspecting for wear and damage. A regularly serviced
swingarm and link assembly can last several seasons, even
when ridden in extreme conditions. When left un-serviced,
handling and suspension problems often develop due to
either play in bearings or frozen links, swingarms, and
axles. |
| Headset
Service is less of a concern, but periodically needs
maintenance like the swingarm and link bearings. We routinely
install zerk fittings into steering stems - so in the
future the headset can be serviced at home with a grease
gun. |
 |
 |
Tire Mounting
and Balancing is available for dirt and road bikes.
We also sell tires, tubes, and other related accessories. |
|
Other general services include wheel
bearing replacement, basic welding (steel or aluminum),
minor pipe repair, fork tube straightening, limited
machine work, shock heim joint replacement, and other
services. Just call and ask - and if we cant help
you we can probably tell you who can.
We have the specialized tools and knowledge to work
on all types of suspension, whether it be KTM PDS shocks,
Ohlins forks and shocks, or Honda twin chamber USD forks.
Phil regularly spends time riding many of his customers
bikes making sure that we are indeed getting the results
you are looking for.
