WHY SUSPENSION?
In order to keep your suspension working properly,
it is important that it be serviced regularly.
Just like an engine, suspension components have
internal metal wear surfaces, so clean and fresh
oil is important. Under normal conditions and
an average amount of use (one ride a week for
dirt; daily street use), fork and shock oil should
be changed at least once a year. On dirt
bikes, this general rule goes for other suspension
related components such as swingarm and linkage
bearings.

What are the advantages of having your suspension
revalved and tuned vs. just serviced?
That is a very good question, and one that invariably
has different answers for different riders. Each and
every rider interprets and reacts differently to what
his or her bike is doing. Some riders may be more sensitive
to bumps while others have trouble getting the bike
to turn the way they want it to. The examples are numerous
and the degree to which each rider reacts to feedback
from the bike is practically endless. In addition to
individual rider needs, just about every bike that comes
from the factory has some type of deficiency in the
suspension category for any given rider. The factory
can only put one spring & valving setup in a bike
for each year, make, and model, and there is no way
this one solution can work for every rider. Even among
different bikes of the same year, make, and model, there
will be variances in how the suspension works based
on tolerances, oil flow characteristics, wear, and other
factors.

 |
| Revalving the
suspension takes into account the bike and its characteristics
in conjunction with the rider and his or her personal
needs, and optimizes the overall performance. Rider
weight, skill level, riding style, and bike use,
will all be taken into account when being revalved.
Special rider concerns will also be considered,
whether youre looking for a plusher ride or
a setup that doesnt bottom. Revalving is essentially
optimizing the way that your suspension works for
you, based on all the factors listed above. |
|
|
| If a bike has
adequate springs for the riders weight and
proper sag numbers can be attained, some riders
will find that the stock suspension can be adjusted
to work adequately. And for many riders, revalving
may not be the answer, as some riders are not as
sensitive to the suspension as others are - or you
could be one of the lucky few that the stock setup
works well for. However, if you have the feeling
that your suspension has got to be able to work
better than it currently does, then we can probably
help you. |

We strongly encourage feedback from our customers and
will continue to work with you on optimizing performance
even after your suspension goes out the door. In many
cases, the revalved suspension can be improved upon
by fine tuning adjustment to the rebound and compression
clickers. You can give us a follow-up call at the shop
for some feedback and suggestions, bring your bike by,
or ideally, catch us out riding.
R&D is constantly ongoing, so in the future as
we develop better setups, we can update your existing
revalve setup during your next service (at no additional
charge).
